With a Friday deadline looming, the campaign to save the Hollywood sign met its goal after a Playboy push.
Hugh Hefner provided the last $900,000 of the $12.5 million needed to buy 138 acres on Cahuenga Peak, where the iconic sign is located. Real estate investors had planned to build on the hallowed ground until a fundraising drive spearheaded by The Trust for Public Land saved the property from private development. http://bit.ly/cXeTg8
